Eschaton Magazine

Editorial Design

The Concept

Eschaton is a quarterly magazine published for the rugged outback camper, to the doomsday prepper to use as a guide to survive in the present and post apocalyptic world. People can learn fundamental survival skills such as, gardening and first aid, to the effects of radiation and learn ways to survive a pandemic. Eschaton includes ways to prepare for the end of the world as well as ways to prevent it.

The Design

The magazine is designed in such a way to relate to the survivalist mentally by using only what is needed. This is done by limiting the colour pallete to be strictly grayscale as well as limiting typefaces to one for display and one for body copy. This rudimentary approach towards the design of the magazine not only implies the theme but allows the design to complement the content rather than distract the reader from it.
